We have a very special #HappyEnding to post! Here's a story that exemplifies the very best parts of rescue.
We fell in love with Ponyboy the moment we laid eyes on him. He was left at the shelter with a note that said, "I am very hyper and jumpy, I need help." Thanks to our wonderful fosters, we were able to quickly get him in to a home and start teaching him how to be a very good boy. They worked so hard with him every single day - teaching him to walk on a leash, to sit patiently for treats, and all the basic commands he desperately needed. We can't thank them enough. After 3 weeks of hard work when he was ready to meet potential adopters, an application came in that stood out among the rest. It was from the parents of a former NLOL adopter who recently lost their dog and were finally ready to add another family member. Due to COVID-19, they aren't able to see their children or grandchildren so we knew a small piece of happiness could really be a special moment for them. After doing the whole process virtually, it was time for the family to meet Ponyboy. Family members even came by in cars to play a part in the moment. Often times with rescue animals, you just know immediately when they've found their perfect family. You can't describe it, it just is. That's what happened for Ponyboy. Once he was let off his leash to explore the backyard, he just knew...the adopters knew, and we knew. Ponyboy (now Cooper) was home. "My parents love him! They said if they could have written down what their perfect dog is, it’s everything he is. You've changed their lives!" We couldn't have asked for a better happy ending Cooper. ❤❤❤
