This magnificent, affectionate guy is allllllll about cuddling. He likes to lean up against you just to be near you, and though he’s a bit bigger than “traditional” lap dog size, he will gladly take his place on any lap offered to him! Our smart boy loves fetch, tug of war, and chew bones—he has a silly way of hiding his bones under his dog bed to snack on later (everything in moderation, after all).
Shamrock got his nickname, “Rocky,” not just because he’s a boxer mix; like his cinematic namesake, Rocky is also working hard in training for his forever family. He’s become such a great listener and has his commands down! Because Shamrock has leash anxiety, we’ve established a training regimen that we stick to whenever he’s on leash, to help him relax and even learn to enjoy it. Walks are still not easy for him, so he’s looking for a forever family who will help him continue to improve, and who have a yard where he can play and enjoy life with them!
In his foster home, Shamrock lives with another large pup and a few cats; one of his feline siblings is his favorite playmate and cuddle buddy. But because in his previous life he didn’t receive much socialization, he needs slow introductions to other animals—he’s still learning his social graces. Shamrock would in general prefer a pretty chill environment where there aren’t too many overstimulating noises--despite his handsome manliness, loud noises tend to scare him. And he’d probably be best in a house (rather than a close-quarters apartment) or with forgiving neighbors, as this guy has been known to yodel when playing or out on a walk. Yes, seriously, Shamrock is a yodeler :)
Shamrock's adoption fee comes with a free year of group training classes and one-on-one sessions with his favorite trainer.
